Dallas repeated, winning Super Bowl XXVIII 30-13 over Buffalo, Emmitt Smith named game MVP. Smith also won regular-season MVP and the rushing title with 1,486 yards despite a contract holdout that cost him the first two games, Jerry Rice led the league with 1,503 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, and Rod Woodson won Defensive Player of the Year.
Smith's holdout-then-MVP arc proved how much Dallas leaned on him, and he carried the Cowboys to back-to-back titles from the top of the running back ratings. Buffalo absorbed a third straight Super Bowl loss, a run of near-misses that defined the early-1990s AFC.
