Bobby Hebert: 1983 USFL champion, Saints and Falcons QB
Bobby Hebert was born on August 19, 1960, in Galliano, Louisiana, and played college football at Northwestern State. He went undrafted and signed with the USFL's Michigan Panthers. On July 17, 1983, he threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns in a 24-22 win over the Philadelphia Stars at Mile High Stadium and was named MVP of the league's first championship game.
Hebert joined the New Orleans Saints in 1985 and took over as starter in 1987. On November 20, 1988, he completed 20 of 23 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-0 win over Denver. He sat out the 1990 season in a contract dispute, and Madden NFL 92 put him at a calculated 52 for his 1991 return, the year New Orleans finished 11-5 and won the first division title in franchise history. Madden NFL 93 listed him at a calculated 56 for 1992, when he started all 16 games.
He signed with Atlanta in 1993, started 12 games and was selected to the Pro Bowl; Madden NFL 94 put him at a calculated 53 for that season. Backing up Jeff George in 1994, he was a calculated 78 in Madden NFL 95. Hebert started again in 1996 and retired afterward with 21,683 passing yards, 135 touchdowns, 124 interceptions and a 58.9 completion percentage. He was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.
