Stan Gelbaugh Madden Career 1993-1997 - Peak 86 OVR

Stan Gelbaugh was born on December 4, 1962, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and played college football at Maryland, where he passed for a then-school-record 2,475 yards in 1985. Dallas drafted him in the sixth round, 150th overall, in 1986 and waived him that August. He spent parts of four seasons on Buffalo's roster behind Jim Kelly without attempting a pass.

The World League of American Football gave him a starting job. He led the London Monarchs to the first World Bowl on June 9, 1991, throwing for 191 yards and two touchdowns in a 21-0 win over Barcelona, and he was named the league's Offensive MVP. Phoenix signed him that September, and he started three of the six games he played for the Cardinals.

Seattle signed him as a Plan B free agent in February 1992, and he started eight games that season. On November 30, 1992, he threw a game-tying touchdown on the last play of regulation against Denver in a game Seattle won in overtime. Madden NFL 93 carried a calculated 40 overall for 1992 and Madden NFL 94 a calculated 33 for 1993. Madden NFL 95 carried a calculated 86 for 1994, a legacy number driven by the generous throw attributes of that era rather than by his usage, since he appeared in one game that year. He started Seattle's 1996 finale, tore a groin muscle on the second series, and retired with 2,100 career passing yards, 10 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.
