Jeff George was born on December 8, 1967 in Indianapolis, played at Purdue and then Illinois, and was taken first overall by his hometown Indianapolis Colts in the 1990 draft. The Colts went 1-15 in 1991, a season in which he was sacked 56 times. Madden NFL 92 put him at a calculated 49 for the 1991 season.
Indianapolis traded him to Atlanta in 1994, and he threw for 3,734 yards that year and 4,143 yards in 1995. Madden NFL 95 rated him a calculated 94 for the 1994 season. He threw for 366 yards in a 37-20 wild-card loss at Green Bay on December 31, 1995. A sideline argument with head coach June Jones during a 33-18 loss to Philadelphia on September 22, 1996 led to a suspension, and Madden NFL 97 listed him at 72 for the 1996 season.
He signed with Oakland in 1997 and threw for 3,917 yards with 29 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He went 8-2 in ten starts for Minnesota in 1999 and threw for 423 yards in a 49-37 divisional playoff loss at St. Louis on January 16, 2000. Madden NFL 2000 put him at a calculated 85 for the 1999 season. He last played in 2001, appearing in two games for Washington, and finished with 27,602 passing yards, 154 touchdowns and 113 interceptions.
