A back injury limited his snaps early in 2026, and a chippy September game against Alabama, where he drew a roughing-the-passer penalty and was involved in a scrutinized on-field altercation, put his availability and discipline under the microscope entering his junior season.

Scouting Report: Summary
Stewart is a long, explosive edge with the bend and get-off to threaten the corner, and he pressured Texas A&M seven times in one road game, forced three fumbles and sets a firm edge against the run rather than living purely as a rusher. However, his tackling finish wobbles, his coverage dips when a scheme asks him to drop, and his rush plan still leans on length more than a sequenced counter. A back injury also cost him the first two games of 2026, and at Alabama he punched a tight end in the helmet and clashed with Shane Beamer on the sideline, drawing an SEC suspension and a warning that further misconduct brings tougher discipline. His return against Florida was the right answer: five tackles, a swipe-and-dip sack, two forced fumbles, and the pressure that produced Vicari Swain's interception.Overall, Stewart has the length, bend and explosion of a top-of-the-draft edge, but the counters, the finish and now the health and maturity questions are what stand between him and that ceiling. He projects as a first-round-caliber edge and future starter whose talent is elite, and if the Florida performance becomes the norm rather than the exception, sustained production and better composure can carry him back into the top ten.
