Madden NFL 2025 shipped in summer 2024 for the 2024 NFL season. Launch ratings are set before the season is played, so they reflect the previous year’s performance - a player’s breakout shows up in the next year’s game.

Madden NFL 25 launched August 16, 2024 with Christian McCaffrey on the cover, the first solo running back to get the spot since Adrian Peterson. EA opened with five 99-overalls: McCaffrey, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, left tackle Trent Williams, and Tyreek Hill. Lamar Jackson, Micah Parsons, and Myles Garrett led the 98 tier.

Philadelphia routed Kansas City 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, Jalen Hurts taking game MVP and ending the Chiefs' three-peat bid. Josh Allen won regular-season MVP over Lamar Jackson. Saquon Barkley, in his first Eagles season, ran for 2,005 yards and was named Offensive Player of the Year, while Ja'Marr Chase took the receiving triple crown with 1,708 yards, 127 catches, and 17 touchdowns. Patrick Surtain II won Defensive Player of the Year and Jayden Daniels won Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The cover jinx struck hard: McCaffrey, the 99-overall cover back, played just four games before a season-ending knee and Achilles injury. The opposite was Barkley, rated below the 99 tier at launch, who became the ninth man to crack 2,000 rushing yards and carried Philadelphia to the title.
