Craig Erickson Madden Career 1994-1998 - Peak 92 OVR

Craig Erickson was born on May 17, 1969, in Boynton Beach, Florida, started at quarterback for Miami's 1989 national championship team, and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 1990. Philadelphia drafted him in the fifth round, 131st overall, in 1991, but the two sides did not reach contract terms and he re-entered the draft, where Tampa Bay took him in the fourth round, 86th overall, in 1992. A torn anterior cruciate ligament cost him the 1991 season.

Erickson appeared in six games as a rookie and took over as Tampa Bay's starter in 1993, throwing for 3,054 yards with 18 touchdowns and 21 interceptions across 15 starts. Madden NFL 94 put him at a calculated 20 for that season. He started 14 more games in 1994, cut his interceptions to 10, and threw for 2,919 yards and 16 touchdowns, a season Madden NFL 95 gave him a calculated 92.

Tampa Bay turned to Trent Dilfer and traded Erickson to Indianapolis on April 27, 1995, for a first-round pick. He made three starts for the Colts, a season Madden NFL 96 listed at a calculated 72, then spent 1996 and 1997 as a backup in Miami behind Dan Marino. He underwent Tommy John surgery on his throwing elbow in 1998, threw in the 1999 preseason, and never played another regular-season game. Erickson finished with 591 completions in 1,092 attempts for 7,625 yards, 41 touchdowns and 38 interceptions.
