Jeff Hostetler Madden Career 1992-1998 - Peak 90 OVR

Jeff Hostetler was born on April 22, 1961 in Hollsopple, Pennsylvania. He began at Penn State, transferred to West Virginia and went 18-6 as a starter there, earning third-team All-American recognition in 1983. The New York Giants drafted him in the third round, 59th overall, in 1984.

He played sparingly for six seasons as a backup and placekick holder. After Phil Simms broke his foot in Week 15 of 1990, Hostetler started the last two regular-season games and all three playoff games, including Super Bowl XXV on January 27, 1991, where he completed 20 of 32 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown in a 20-19 win over Buffalo. He won an open competition for the 1991 job and broke his back in his twelfth start; Madden NFL 92 listed him at a calculated 56 for that season and Madden NFL 93 at a calculated 62 for 1992.

Hostetler signed with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1993 and threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-24 wild-card win over Denver on January 9, 1994. He was voted to his only Pro Bowl for the 1994 season, passing for 3,334 yards and 20 touchdowns as the Raiders went 9-7, a year Madden NFL 95 graded at a calculated 90. He started three games for Washington in 1997, a season Madden NFL 98 listed at a calculated 82. He retired after spending 1998 on injured reserve, with 16,430 passing yards, 94 touchdowns and 71 interceptions.
