Josh Allen was born on May 21, 1996 in Firebaugh, California, and grew up on his family's cotton farm there. He drew no Division I scholarship offers out of Firebaugh High School, spent 2014 at Reedley College and then transferred to Wyoming for three seasons. Buffalo traded up to select him seventh overall in the 2018 draft. He completed 52.8 percent of his passes as a rookie, and Madden NFL 19 rated him 74.

In 2020 Allen led the Bills to their first division title and playoff win since 1995 and to the AFC Championship Game. Madden NFL 22 rated him 88 for the 2021 season, in which he posted a 149.0 passer rating across the postseason, the highest single-postseason mark in NFL history. He ran for 15 touchdowns in 2023, a single-season record for a quarterback, and Madden NFL 24 rated him 94.

Allen won NFL MVP for the 2024 season, throwing for 3,731 yards with 28 touchdowns and six interceptions and rushing for 12 more scores. Madden NFL 26 rated him 99. Through the 2025 season he had 30,102 passing yards, 220 touchdown passes and 4,721 rushing yards, and his 79 rushing touchdowns were the most by a quarterback in NFL history. Buffalo's 2025 season ended with a 33-30 overtime loss to Denver in the divisional round.
