Madden NFL 2024 shipped in summer 2023 for the 2023 NFL season. Launch ratings are set before the season is played, so they reflect the previous year’s performance - a player’s breakout shows up in the next year’s game.
Madden NFL 24 released August 18, 2023 with Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen on the cover. The launch 99 club was Aaron Donald, Justin Jefferson, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and guard Zack Martin.
Kansas City won Super Bowl LVIII in overtime, 25-22 over San Francisco, Mahomes claiming his third Super Bowl MVP. Lamar Jackson won his second regular-season MVP. Christian McCaffrey took Offensive Player of the Year with 1,459 rushing yards, Myles Garrett won Defensive Player of the Year, and C.J. Stroud ran away with Offensive Rookie of the Year. Tyreek Hill paced the league with 1,799 receiving yards.
Justin Jefferson carried a 99 into 2023 but a hamstring injury held him to 10 games and 1,074 yards, well short of the bar. The reverse was Stroud, a rookie EA could only guess at: he threw for 4,108 yards, led Houston to the playoffs, and finished fourth in MVP voting.
