Trey McBride was born November 22, 1999 in Greeley, Colorado, and played at Colorado State, where he won the John Mackey Award in 2021 and became the school's first unanimous All-American. The Arizona Cardinals drafted him in the second round of 2022, 55th overall. He caught 29 passes for 265 yards and one touchdown as a rookie, and Madden NFL 23 listed him at 73 for the 2022 season.
He caught 81 passes for 825 yards in 2023, and in Week 10 of that season became the first Arizona tight end with a 100-yard receiving game since Rob Awalt in 1989. Madden NFL 24 graded the season at 74. In 2024 he caught 111 passes for 1,146 yards and made his first Pro Bowl, and Madden NFL 25 raised him to 82. He signed a four-year extension worth $76 million in April 2025.
In 2025 he caught 126 passes, the most by a tight end in a season, for 1,239 yards and 11 touchdowns, and became the first tight end with consecutive 100-catch seasons. He was named first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press and made a second Pro Bowl, and Madden NFL 26 rated him 92 for that season. Through the 2025 season he had 347 receptions for 3,475 yards and 17 touchdowns in 66 games.
