Roquan Smith was born on April 8, 1997 in Montezuma, Georgia. He played at Macon County High School and then at Georgia, where he won the Butkus Award in 2017 as the best linebacker in college football. Chicago drafted him eighth overall in 2018. He started 14 games as a rookie, and Madden NFL 19 rated him 81 for that season.
Madden NFL 22 rated him 88 for 2021, his last full year in Chicago. The Bears traded him to Baltimore on October 31, 2022, and he was named first-team All-Pro after that season, the first of three straight. He signed a five-year, $100 million extension with the Ravens on January 11, 2023. Madden NFL 24 rated him 92 for a 2023 season in which he recorded 158 tackles.
He reached 1,000 career tackles in January 2025, the youngest player in league history to do so. Madden NFL 25 rated him 95 for the 2024 season. He made 130 tackles in 15 games in 2025 and led Baltimore in tackles for a third consecutive year. Through the 2025 season he had been voted to four Pro Bowls, in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
