A rookie 74 who was a 98 inside three years
Micah Parsons came out of Penn State a consensus All-American linebacker who had opted out of the 2020 season, a slight uncertainty that helped him fall to Dallas at the 12th pick in 2021. The Cowboys drafted him to play off the ball and quickly discovered they had something rarer, a linebacker who could rush the passer like a premier defensive end, and they turned him loose.
Few Madden cards have ever climbed this fast. He opened at a rookie 74, then exploded to an 88 after winning Defensive Rookie of the Year, and from there to a 97 and a 98, hitting the game's top tier in his third season. The grade chased a player who posted double-digit sacks in every one of his first five years, a hybrid the sport had no clean label for, and the ratings simply gave up trying to place him at one position and rated the disruption.
Parsons made first-team All-Pro three times and the Pro Bowl in every season, a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate and the most feared piece of the Dallas defense. Then came the twist no one saw at the draft, a trade to Green Bay ahead of the 2025 season that sent one of the league's best defenders out of the division that had built him. The 74-to-98 climb on his card is about as steep as Madden gets, and it belonged to Dallas for exactly as long as the disruption did.
