Kirk Cousins: Fourth-Round Pick, Four-Time Pro Bowl Quarterback
Kirk Cousins was born August 19, 1988, in Barrington, Illinois. He played college football at Michigan State, and Washington drafted him in the fourth round, 102nd overall, in 2012. He made one start as a rookie behind Robert Griffin III, and Madden NFL 13 listed him at 72 that season.
Cousins replaced an injured Griffin in 2015, led Washington to the NFC East title and led the NFL in completion percentage. He passed for a career-high 4,917 yards in 2016 and made his first Pro Bowl, a season Madden NFL 17 rated 83. Washington used the franchise tag on him in 2016 and again in 2017, making him the first quarterback tagged in consecutive years, and Madden NFL 18 listed him at 85 for 2017. He signed a fully guaranteed three-year, $84 million contract with Minnesota in 2018 and earned three more Pro Bowl selections there.
He signed a four-year, $180 million deal with Atlanta in March 2024 and threw for a franchise-record 509 yards and four touchdowns in an overtime win over Tampa Bay that October. Michael Penix Jr. replaced him in Week 16. Cousins made eight starts in 2025, and Madden NFL 26 listed him at 73. The Las Vegas Raiders signed him in April 2026. Through the 2025 season he had 44,700 passing yards and 298 touchdown passes.
