Zero-star recruit from Division II who twice led the NFL in touchdowns
Austin Ekeler was a zero-star recruit who landed at Division II Western Colorado and signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He grew into one of the most productive dual-threat backs of his era. In 2021 he scored 20 total touchdowns to tie for the NFL lead, and in 2022 he led the league outright with 18, pairing 107 catches with his carries.
He made a Pro Bowl, piled up yards from scrimmage, and stands with Marshall Faulk as one of only two players to post 10-plus rushing and 5-plus receiving scores in consecutive seasons. He signed with Washington in 2024 and tore his Achilles in the 2025 opener.
His card climbed with the production. Ekeler debuted at 81 in the 2018 edition, rose to 88 in the 2022 game after the 20-touchdown year, and hit a peak 89 in the 2023 edition before slipping to 77 by the 2025 game.
