Chris Jones was born on July 3, 1994 in Houston, Mississippi, played three seasons at Mississippi State, and was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round, 37th overall, in 2016. He started 11 of 16 games as a rookie while moving between end and tackle. Madden NFL 18 rated him 84 for the 2017 season.

He finished third in the NFL with 15.5 sacks in 2018, recording a sack in 11 straight games, and was named second-team All-Pro. Kansas City won Super Bowl LIV in February 2020. He signed a four-year, $85 million extension that July, and Madden NFL 21 rated him 92 for the 2020 season. Pro Bowl selections followed in every year from 2019 through 2024.

First-team All-Pro honors came after the 2022, 2023 and 2024 seasons, which included Super Bowl wins in LVII and LVIII. Madden NFL 24 rated him 96 for the 2023 season.
