The Broncos safety who leapt the line to win a game
Justin Simmons announced himself as a rookie in November 2016 by timing a leap over the New Orleans line to block an extra point, a play Denver returned the other way for a two-point safety and a 25-23 win. A third-round pick out of Boston College, 98th overall in 2016, he grew into one of the game's steadiest deep safeties, earning second-team All-Pro honors in 2019, 2022 and 2023 and Pro Bowl trips for the 2021 and 2024 seasons. He finished with 28 career interceptions.
His rating grew with the reputation. The card opened at 70 in the 2016 edition and 72 the year after, then jumped to 90 in the 2020 edition once he was a proven ballhawk. It held at 91 through 2022 and peaked at 92 in the 2023 edition, his last year in Denver before a one-year stint in Atlanta.
