Joe Burrow was born in Ames, Iowa, on December 10, 1996. He spent three seasons at Ohio State before transferring to LSU, where he won the 2019 Heisman Trophy and led the Tigers to the national championship. Cincinnati drafted him first overall in 2020. He tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee in Week 11 of his rookie season, a year for which Madden NFL 21 listed him at 76.
He returned in 2021 to throw for 4,611 yards and 34 touchdowns and to lead the league in completion percentage. On January 30, 2022, he brought Cincinnati back from a 21-3 deficit to beat Kansas City 27-24 in overtime in the AFC Championship Game, and the Bengals lost Super Bowl LVI to the Los Angeles Rams two weeks later. He was named Comeback Player of the Year. Madden NFL 23 listed him at 90 for the 2022 season.
A torn ligament in his right wrist ended his 2023 season in Week 11, a year for which Madden NFL 24 listed him at 95. He led the NFL with 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns in 2024 and won a second Comeback Player of the Year award, a season for which Madden NFL 25 listed him at 93. Turf toe cost him most of 2025. Through the 2025 season he had 20,810 passing yards, 157 touchdown passes and three Pro Bowl selections.
