Kevin Byard was born on August 17, 1993 in Philadelphia, played college football at Middle Tennessee, and was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round, 64th overall, in 2016. He started seven games as a rookie, and Madden NFL 17 rated him 71 for that season. In 2017 he intercepted eight passes to lead the NFL, taking five of them across two consecutive games to tie the most in any two-game span since the 1970 merger, and was named first-team All-Pro.
On September 16, 2018 against Houston, Byard threw a 66-yard touchdown pass on a fake punt, the longest scoring pass by a defensive player in the Super Bowl era. Madden NFL 19 rated him 89 for the 2018 season. He was first-team All-Pro again after 2021 and recorded 108 combined tackles in 2022, a season for which Madden NFL 23 rated him 92.
Tennessee traded him to Philadelphia during the 2023 season, and he moved to Chicago in 2024. In 2025 he led the NFL in interceptions for a second time with seven, added 93 combined tackles, and was named first-team All-Pro for the third time. Through the 2025 season he had 972 combined tackles, 36 interceptions, six sacks and 81 passes defensed in ten seasons.
