Davis Mills was born on October 21, 1998, in Atlanta, Georgia, and played college football at Stanford. He started six games in 2019 and set a school record with 504 passing yards against Washington State that November. The Houston Texans selected him in the third round, 67th overall, in the 2021 draft.
Mills debuted in Week 2 of 2021 against Cleveland and took over as starter in December, finishing with 2,664 passing yards, then a franchise record for a rookie. Madden NFL 22 listed him at 63 overall for that season. He started all 15 of his appearances in 2022 and threw for 3,118 yards and 17 touchdowns; on January 8, 2023, he hit Jordan Akins for a fourth-down touchdown and added the two-point conversion in a 32-31 win at Indianapolis. After Houston drafted C. J. Stroud in 2023, Mills moved to backup, a season for which Madden NFL 24 listed him at 67 overall. He started again on November 9, 2025, against Jacksonville, throwing for 292 yards and two touchdowns and running for the go-ahead score in a 36-29 win. Through the 2025 season he had 7,082 career passing yards, 40 touchdowns and 26 interceptions.
