Justin Fields was born on March 5, 1999, in Kennesaw, Georgia. He spent his freshman year at Georgia before transferring to Ohio State, where he was Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in 2019 and 2020. The Chicago Bears traded up to draft him 11th overall in 2021. He started 10 games as a rookie and rushed for 420 yards, and Madden NFL 22 listed him at 74 overall that season.

In 2022 he rushed for 1,143 yards, becoming the third quarterback in NFL history to reach 1,000 in a season. On November 6, 2022, against Miami, he ran for 178 yards, the most by a quarterback in a regular-season game. He set career highs in 2023 with 2,562 passing yards and a 61.4 completion percentage and threw four touchdown passes against Denver on October 1, a season for which Madden NFL 24 rated him 76 overall.

Chicago traded him to Pittsburgh in March 2024, where he started six games and threw one interception all season while Madden NFL 25 listed him at 75 overall. He signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the New York Jets in March 2025, started nine games, and was placed on injured reserve in December. The Jets traded him to the Kansas City Chiefs in March 2026. Through the 2025 season he had 9,039 career passing yards.
