Gardner Minshew II was born on May 16, 1996, in Flowood, Mississippi. He played at Northwest Mississippi Community College, East Carolina and Washington State, and he won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 2018. Jacksonville drafted him 178th overall in the sixth round in 2019. He replaced the injured Nick Foles in the Week 1 opener and completed 22 of 25 passes for 275 yards. Madden NFL 20 listed him at 59 for that season.
Minshew threw for 3,271 yards and 21 touchdowns as a rookie, a Jaguars record for a rookie quarterback. He opened 2020 by completing 19 of 20 passes for three touchdowns against Indianapolis, and Madden NFL 21 rated him 70 for that year. Jacksonville traded him to Philadelphia in August 2021, and he made four starts there across two seasons.
He signed with Indianapolis in March 2023, started 13 games for 3,305 yards and 15 touchdowns, and was named a Pro Bowl alternate; Madden NFL 24 had him at 67. Madden NFL 25 raised him to 73 for 2024, a season that ended when he broke his collarbone in Week 12 with Las Vegas. He signed with Kansas City in March 2025 and with Arizona in March 2026. Through the 2025 season he had 63 appearances, 47 starts and 68 touchdown passes.
