Joe Flacco was born on January 16, 1985 in Audubon, New Jersey. He began college at Pittsburgh, transferred to Delaware, and was drafted 18th overall by Baltimore in 2008. He started all 16 games as a rookie and won a playoff game in each of his first five seasons. Madden NFL 09 rated him 79 for 2008.

On January 12, 2013 he threw a 70-yard touchdown to Jacoby Jones in the closing seconds of a divisional playoff game at Denver, which Baltimore won in double overtime. He finished that postseason with 11 touchdown passes and no interceptions. He then completed 22 of 33 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-31 win over San Francisco in Super Bowl XLVII on February 3, 2013 and was named the game's most valuable player. Madden NFL 25 rated him 93 for 2013.

Baltimore traded him to Denver in 2019, and he spent the next three seasons with the Jets; Madden NFL 19 had rated him 79 for 2018. Cleveland signed him in November 2023, and he won four of five starts and took the AP Comeback Player of the Year award in a season for which Madden NFL 24 rated him 63. He started eight games for Indianapolis in 2024, opened 2025 with four starts in Cleveland, and was traded to Cincinnati that October. Through the 2025 season he had thrown for 48,176 yards and 272 touchdowns.
