Drake Maye was born on August 30, 2002, in Huntersville, North Carolina, and played college football for North Carolina from 2021 to 2023. He won the Shaun Alexander Award and ACC Player of the Year honors in 2022. The New England Patriots drafted him third overall in 2024.
Maye started 12 of his 13 appearances as a rookie, throwing for 2,276 yards with 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and was added to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games as a replacement. Madden NFL 25 listed him at 74 overall for the 2024 season. He started all 17 games in 2025 and completed 21 of 23 passes against Tennessee in Week 7, a franchise record for completion percentage in a regular-season game. Madden NFL 26 rated him 78 overall for that season.
