Russell Wilson was born in Cincinnati on November 29, 1988. He played football and baseball at NC State from 2008 to 2010, then transferred to Wisconsin for the 2011 season and set the FBS single-season passer rating record. Seattle drafted him in the third round, 75th overall, in 2012. He won the starting job as a rookie and tied the rookie record for passing touchdowns, a season for which Madden NFL 13 listed him at 70.
On February 2, 2014, he threw two touchdown passes in a 43-8 win over Denver in Super Bowl XLVIII. A year later Seattle lost Super Bowl XLIX to New England 28-24 after Malcolm Butler intercepted him at the goal line. Madden NFL 15 listed him at 93 for the 2014 season. The Associated Press named him second-team All-Pro after the 2019 season, and Madden NFL 21 listed him at 97 for 2020, when he threw 30 or more touchdown passes for a fourth straight year.
Seattle traded him to Denver in March 2022. He was benched late in 2023, a season for which Madden NFL 24 listed him at 77, and Denver released him in March 2024. He spent 2024 with Pittsburgh, where he earned a tenth Pro Bowl selection, and 2025 with the New York Giants. He retired on June 3, 2026, after 14 seasons, with 46,966 passing yards, 353 touchdown passes and 5,568 rushing yards.
