Andy Dalton was born on October 29, 1987, in Katy, Texas. He played college football at TCU, where he was twice named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year, and the Cincinnati Bengals drafted him in the second round, 35th overall, in 2011. He started all 16 games as a rookie, threw for 3,398 yards and 20 touchdowns, reached the playoffs and was selected to the Pro Bowl. Madden NFL 12 rated him 71 for that 2011 season.
He led Cincinnati to five straight playoff appearances from 2011 through 2015, and the team lost all five games. He fractured his throwing thumb in Week 13 of 2015 and missed the rest of that season. Madden NFL 17 rated him 87 for 2016, his highest figure, a year he passed for more than 4,000 yards with eight interceptions and earned a third Pro Bowl selection. On December 31, 2017, his touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd with 44 seconds left beat Baltimore and ended Buffalo's 17-year playoff drought.
Cincinnati released him in 2020. Madden NFL 21 rated him 72 for that season, which he spent with the Dallas Cowboys, starting nine games after Dak Prescott's ankle injury. He played for the Chicago Bears in 2021 and the New Orleans Saints in 2022, joined the Carolina Panthers in 2023 and started five games for them in 2024. Carolina traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2026. Through the 2025 season he had thrown for 39,793 yards and 254 touchdowns.
