Caleb Williams was born on November 18, 2001 in Washington, D.C., and attended Gonzaga College High School there. He played his freshman season at Oklahoma in 2021, then transferred to USC, where he threw for 4,537 yards and 42 touchdowns in 2022 and won the Heisman Trophy. The Chicago Bears selected him first overall in the 2024 draft.

Williams started all 17 games as a rookie, passing for 3,541 yards with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions while being sacked 68 times. He threw four touchdown passes against Jacksonville in London in Week 6, and his run of 354 attempts without an interception set an NFL rookie record. Madden NFL 25 rated him 76 overall for the 2024 season.

In 2025 he threw for 3,942 yards, a Chicago single-season record, with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Madden NFL 26 listed him at 75 for that season. In Week 9 at Cincinnati he passed for 280 yards and three touchdowns, caught two passes and threw a 58-yard game-winner to Colston Loveland in a 47-42 win. He made his playoff debut in the wild card round against Green Bay, throwing two fourth-quarter touchdowns in a 31-27 victory, then threw two touchdowns and three interceptions in an overtime divisional-round loss to the Rams. Through the 2025 season he had 7,483 passing yards, 47 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions in 34 starts.
