Nick Mullens: undrafted Southern Miss QB, 20 NFL starts
Nick Mullens was born on March 21, 1995 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and grew up in Hoover, Alabama. At Southern Miss he threw for 11,994 yards and 87 touchdowns across four seasons, passing the school records Brett Favre had set. San Francisco signed him as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2017, and he spent his rookie year on the practice squad.
The 49ers promoted him in September 2018 after Jimmy Garoppolo tore an anterior cruciate ligament. Mullens started on November 1, 2018 against Oakland and completed 16 of 22 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-3 win, then threw for 414 yards at Seattle on December 2. He finished 2018 with 2,277 yards and 13 touchdowns in eight starts. Madden NFL 20 listed 68 overall for the 2019 season, his highest figure, when he appeared in one game.
He started eight games in 2020 before an elbow injury ended his season. Cleveland started him once in December 2021 during a COVID-19 outbreak, and Madden NFL 22 listed 66 for that season. Minnesota acquired him by trade in August 2022; Madden NFL 24 listed 58 for 2023, a year in which he made three starts and threw for 411 yards with four interceptions against Detroit. He signed with Jacksonville in March 2025 and appeared in five games that season without a start.
