Ninth-round pick in 1992, Super Bowl XXXVII winner in Tampa Bay

Brad Johnson was born on September 13, 1968 in Marietta, Georgia, played basketball and football at Florida State, and was taken by the Minnesota Vikings in the ninth round of the 1992 draft, 227th overall. He became a starter in 1996 and threw for 3,036 yards in 1997; on October 12 that year he caught his own deflected pass and ran three yards for a touchdown against Carolina. Madden NFL 98 carried a calculated 82 overall for that 1997 season.

Madden NFL 99 put his 1998 season at a calculated 91, his highest figure in the series. Traded to Washington in 1999, he threw for 4,005 yards and 24 touchdowns and made his first Pro Bowl. He signed with Tampa Bay in 2001, led the NFC with a 92.9 passer rating in 2002, made a second Pro Bowl and beat Oakland 48-21 in Super Bowl XXXVII. Madden NFL 03 listed him at 75 for that 2002 season.

Madden NFL 04 returned him to 87 for 2003. He rejoined Minnesota in 2005, replacing the injured Daunte Culpepper, then signed with Dallas in 2007 as Tony Romo's backup and started three games in 2008 while Romo recovered from a broken finger. Johnson finished with 29,054 passing yards, 166 touchdowns and a 72-53 record as a starter.
