Two Super Bowl MVPs and 210 straight starts for the Giants
Eli Manning was born on January 3, 1981 in New Orleans, Louisiana, played college football at Mississippi, and was the first pick of the 2004 draft, taken by the San Diego Chargers. They traded him to the New York Giants that same day for Philip Rivers and three further picks. He started seven of the nine games he played as a rookie, and Madden NFL 05 rated him 81.
On February 3, 2008 Manning was named MVP of Super Bowl XLII, a 17-14 win over the unbeaten New England Patriots, and Madden NFL 09 rated him 93 that summer. He took the award again in Super Bowl XLVI on February 5, 2012, a 21-17 win over the same opponent, after which Madden NFL 13 rated him 97. He was selected to four Pro Bowls, for the 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2015 seasons.
Manning started 210 consecutive regular-season games between November 2004 and November 2017, a streak the Giants ended by starting Geno Smith. Madden NFL 18 rated him 80 for that season. He shared the 2016 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award with Larry Fitzgerald. He retired on January 22, 2020 with 57,023 passing yards and 366 touchdown passes. The Giants retired his No. 10 and inducted him into their Ring of Honor on September 26, 2021.
