Adrian Peterson was born on March 21, 1985 in Palestine, Texas. He rushed for 1,925 yards as a freshman at Oklahoma in 2004 and finished second in Heisman Trophy voting, and Minnesota drafted him seventh overall in 2007. He ran for 296 yards against San Diego on November 4, 2007, a single-game record, and was named Offensive Rookie of the Year.

He led the NFL with 1,760 rushing yards in 2008. Madden NFL 11 rated him 98 for the 2010 season. He tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee in December 2011, returned for the 2012 opener and rushed for 2,097 yards, nine short of Eric Dickerson's single-season record, winning MVP, Offensive Player of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year. Madden NFL 25 rated him 99.

A Texas grand jury indicted him in September 2014 for injuring his young son with a switch, and he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor reckless assault that November, playing one game that season. He returned to lead the league with 1,485 rushing yards in 2015, and Madden NFL 16 rated him 95. He later played for Arizona, New Orleans, Washington, Detroit, Seattle and Tennessee, and Madden NFL 21 rated him 78 for the 2020 season. He finished with 14,918 rushing yards, 120 rushing touchdowns and seven Pro Bowl selections. Tennessee waived him on November 23, 2021.
