Darren Woodson was born on April 25, 1969 in Phoenix, Arizona, played linebacker for Arizona State, and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round in 1992, 37th overall. Dallas moved him to strong safety, and he started 15 games there in 1993. Madden NFL 94 put him at a calculated 59 for that first season as a starter, and Madden NFL 95 put him at a calculated 92 for 1994.

Woodson made five straight Pro Bowls from 1994 through 1998 and was a first-team All-Pro in 1994, 1995 and 1996. He won Super Bowls XXVII, XXVIII and XXX with Dallas. Madden NFL 99 put him at a calculated 90 for the 1998 season. He became the franchise's all-time leading tackler during the 2002 season, and Madden NFL 04 rated him 94 for 2003, his twelfth and final year on the field.

A herniated disc kept Woodson out of the entire 2004 season, and he announced his retirement on December 30, 2004. He finished with 1,350 tackles, 23 interceptions and 11 sacks, all of it in Dallas, and later worked as a television analyst. The Cowboys added him to their Ring of Honor in 2015.
