DeMarcus Ware was born on July 31, 1982, in Auburn, Alabama, and accepted his only scholarship offer, from Troy. The Dallas Cowboys drafted him 11th overall in 2005 and started him at right outside linebacker for all 16 games as a rookie. Madden NFL 06 rated him 81.
He recorded 14 sacks in 2007 and was named first-team All-Pro, and Madden NFL 08 rated him 90. He led the NFL with 20 sacks in 2008, and Madden NFL 09 rated him 98. He led the league again in 2010 with 15.5 sacks. Madden NFL 13 rated him 99 for the 2012 season, the last of seven consecutive Pro Bowl years in Dallas.
Dallas released him in March 2014 as the franchise sack leader with 117, and Denver signed him the next day. Madden NFL 15 rated him 90. He had two sacks in Denver's Super Bowl 50 win over Carolina in February 2016 and retired on April 24, 2017 with 138.5 sacks, nine Pro Bowls and four first-team All-Pro selections. He opened a fitness business in Texas after he stopped playing. Ware was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August 2023 and added to the Cowboys Ring of Honor that October.
