Ty Law was born on February 10, 1974 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, played college football at Michigan, and was drafted 23rd overall by the New England Patriots in 1995. He started seven of his 14 rookie games at right cornerback. Madden NFL 96 put him at a calculated 76 for the 1995 season.

Law led the NFL with nine interceptions in 1998 and was named first-team All-Pro, and Madden NFL 99 put him at a calculated 88 for that year. He returned an interception of Kurt Warner 47 yards for a touchdown in New England's Super Bowl XXXVI win over St. Louis on February 3, 2002. He intercepted Peyton Manning three times in the AFC Championship Game that followed the 2003 season, a year Madden NFL 04 rated him 95 for.

A foot injury held him to seven games in 2004, and he signed with the New York Jets the following year. He led the league again with 10 interceptions in 2005, and Madden NFL 06 rated him 96 for that season. Two years in Kansas City, a return to the Jets and seven games in Denver in 2009 closed out 203 career games. Law was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019 with 53 interceptions returned for 828 yards and seven touchdowns.
