Wayne Chrebet Madden Career 1996-2006 - Peak 82 OVR

Wayne Chrebet was born on August 14, 1973 in Garfield, New Jersey, and played at Garfield High School and then at Hofstra, where he set school records for receiving yards and touchdowns and had his No. 3 retired. He went undrafted in 1995 and was cut after one day by the CFL's Baltimore Stallions, then made the New York Jets as a walk-on from 11th on the wide receiver depth chart. Madden NFL 96 carried a calculated 76 for his rookie year, in which he started all 16 games.

On October 19, 1996 Chrebet caught 12 passes for 162 yards against Jacksonville. Over his career 379 of his 580 receptions moved the chains on third down. Madden NFL 99 listed a calculated 80 for his 1998 season. On September 24, 2000 he caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from running back Curtis Martin with 52 seconds left to beat Tampa Bay 21-17, a year Madden NFL 2001 rated a stored 86.

On November 6, 2005 he was knocked unconscious on a clean hit against San Diego, made a third-down catch, and was then placed on injured reserve. Told another concussion risked brain damage, he announced his retirement on June 2, 2006 with 580 receptions for 7,365 yards and 41 touchdowns, all for the Jets. He entered the team's Ring of Honor on December 1, 2014.
