Marvin Harrison was born on August 25, 1972 in Philadelphia, played college football at Syracuse, and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts 19th overall in 1996. He caught 64 passes for 836 yards as a rookie, a season for which Madden NFL 97 rated him 67. Peyton Manning arrived in 1998, and Madden NFL 99 put Harrison at a calculated 88 for that year.

Harrison made eight consecutive Pro Bowls from 1999 through 2006 and was a first-team All-Pro in 1999, 2002 and 2006. He caught 143 passes in 2002, breaking Herman Moore's single-season record, and Madden NFL 04 rated him 99 for the 2003 season. He won Super Bowl XLI with the Colts on February 4, 2007, a 29-17 win over the Chicago Bears.

A knee injury limited him to five games in 2007. He returned for 15 games in 2008, a season Madden NFL 09 rated him 94, then asked for his release in February 2009 and did not play again. Harrison finished with 1,102 receptions, 14,580 receiving yards and 128 touchdowns, all in Indianapolis, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016. His son, Marvin Harrison Jr., was drafted fourth overall by Arizona in 2024.
