Dewayne Washington Madden Career 1995-2002 - Peak 96 OVR

Dewayne Neron Washington was born on December 27, 1972 in Durham, North Carolina, played college football at North Carolina State and was taken by the Minnesota Vikings with the 18th pick of the 1994 draft. He started all 16 games as a rookie, made three interceptions for 135 yards and returned two for touchdowns, and was named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team. Madden NFL 95 put him at a calculated 96 for the 1994 season.

He made four interceptions in 1997, when Minnesota beat the New York Giants in the wild-card round before losing at San Francisco, and Madden NFL 98 listed him at a calculated 86 for that year. Pittsburgh signed him as an unrestricted free agent on February 25, 1998, and he recorded 93 tackles and five interceptions for 178 yards and two touchdowns. Madden NFL 99 carried him at a calculated 85 for 1998.

He started every game of his first five Pittsburgh seasons, and Madden NFL 03 listed him at 87 for 2002. The Steelers released him on February 27, 2004, he signed with Jacksonville that March and he finished with Kansas City in 2005, playing mostly special teams. Washington played 191 of a possible 192 regular-season games in 12 seasons and recorded 31 interceptions, five of them returned for touchdowns. He was hired as head football coach at Heritage High School in Wake Forest, North Carolina in May 2015 and resigned in January 2018.
