Jaguars first QB: 1996 NFL passing yards leader, 32,072 career

Mark Brunell was born on September 17, 1970, in Los Angeles, California, and played college football at Washington. The Green Bay Packers drafted him in the fifth round of the 1993 draft, 118th overall, and he spent two seasons behind Brett Favre. In April 1995 the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars traded two draft picks to Green Bay for him, the first trade in franchise history.

Brunell led the NFL in passing yards in 1996 and rated 84 overall in Madden NFL 97 for that season. On January 4, 1997, he beat the 13-3 Broncos 30-27 in Denver to reach the AFC Championship Game in the Jaguars' second year, then was most valuable player of the Pro Bowl a month later. He made three Pro Bowls, after the 1996, 1997 and 1999 seasons, and a calculated 93 in Madden NFL 99 marked his 1998 season.

Traded to Washington in 2004, he completed his first 22 passes against Houston on September 24, 2006 for an NFL record, and Madden NFL 07 put him at 87 for that season. He held for Garrett Hartley in the Saints' Super Bowl XLIV win over Indianapolis, a season Madden NFL 10 graded at 62. He filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2010 and emerged from it in December 2011. Two seasons with the New York Jets closed a career of 32,072 passing yards, and he entered the Pride of the Jaguars in December 2013.
