Chris Hanson Madden Career 2003-2010 - Peak 95 OVR

Chris Hanson was born on October 25, 1976, in Georgia, and punted for four years at Marshall, helping the Thundering Herd win the 1996 Division I-AA national championship. He signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 1999, was waived after training camp, and punted one game for the Green Bay Packers that September. He spent the spring of 2000 with the Barcelona Dragons of NFL Europe.

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed him in August 2001. He led the NFL with a 44.2-yard gross average in 2002 and was selected to the Pro Bowl; Madden NFL 03 rated him 83 for that season. Madden NFL 04 rated him 95 for 2003, a year that ended after five games when he cut his non-kicking foot swinging a motivational axe in the Jaguars' locker room.

He returned in 2004 and punted in every game through 2009. Madden NFL 07 rated him 86 for 2006, after which Jacksonville drafted Adam Podlesh and released him in May 2007. New England signed him that August, and he punted for the 16-0 Patriots team that reached Super Bowl XLII. Hanson was named head football coach at Trinity Christian School in Sharpsburg, Georgia, in 2011. He finished with 577 punts for 24,532 yards and a 42.5-yard average.
