Terance Mathis: 689 catches, 111 for Atlanta in 1994

Terance Mathis was born on June 7, 1967 in Detroit and attended Redan High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia. At New Mexico he became the school's first consensus All-American in 1989, and the New York Jets drafted him in the sixth round, 140th overall, in 1990. He worked mainly as a kick and punt returner across four Jets seasons, starting six games in all. Madden NFL 93 listed a calculated 36 for his 1992 season.

Mathis signed with Atlanta as an unrestricted free agent in 1994 and caught 111 passes for 1,342 yards and 11 touchdowns, a club record and the eighth 100-catch season in league history. He was named to the Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro, and Madden NFL 95 carried a calculated 96 for the year. Madden NFL 97 listed a stored 81 for 1996, by which point he had passed 3,000 receiving yards as a Falcon.

On January 31, 1999 he caught a three-yard touchdown in Super Bowl XXXIII and led the Falcons with seven receptions for 85 yards. He passed Andre Rison as Atlanta's all-time reception leader the following season, which Madden NFL 2000 rated a calculated 92. He spent 2002 with Pittsburgh and retired with 689 receptions for 8,809 yards and 63 touchdowns. He was named head football coach at Morehouse College in February 2024.
