Fiesta Bowl knee injury, then 8,474 NFL rushing yards
Willis McGahee was born on October 21, 1981 in Miami, Florida, and ran for 1,753 yards and 28 touchdowns at the University of Miami in 2002. In the fourth quarter of the January 2003 Fiesta Bowl he caught a screen pass and was hit by Ohio State safety Will Allen, tearing the ACL, PCL and MCL in his left knee. He declined to collect a $2.5 million insurance policy in order to enter the draft, and Buffalo took him 23rd overall in 2003.
He missed all of 2003, and Madden NFL 04 listed him at 76 for that season. He ran for 1,128 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2004 and was named PFWA Comeback Player of the Year, then ran for 1,247 yards in 2005, a season Madden NFL 06 graded 91. Baltimore acquired him in 2007, and he gained 1,207 yards and made the Pro Bowl; Madden NFL 08 put him at 92 for that year.
He started once in 2009 but scored 12 rushing touchdowns on 109 carries; Madden NFL 10 listed him at 83 for that season. Denver signed him in 2011, and he ran for 1,199 yards and made a second Pro Bowl. He played 2012 in Denver and 2013 in Cleveland. Over ten seasons and 142 games he ran for 8,474 yards and 65 touchdowns.
