Marshall Faulk was born on February 26, 1973 in New Orleans, played three seasons at San Diego State, and was drafted second overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 1994. He ran for 1,282 yards as a rookie and was named Offensive Rookie of the Year. Madden NFL 95 put him at a calculated 92 for that 1994 season.

Indianapolis traded him to the St. Louis Rams in April 1999. He gained 2,429 yards from scrimmage that year, an NFL record at the time, and won Super Bowl XXXIV over Tennessee on January 30, 2000. Madden NFL 2000 listed him at a calculated 94 for the 1999 season. Faulk was Offensive Player of the Year in 1999, 2000 and 2001 and league MVP in 2000, and Madden NFL 02 rated him 99 for 2001.

Injuries cut his workload after 2002, and Madden NFL 05 rated him 93 for 2004. He played 16 games in 2005 with one start, missed the 2006 season with a knee injury and retired in 2007. Faulk finished with 12,279 rushing yards, 6,875 receiving yards, 136 total touchdowns and seven Pro Bowl selections. The Rams retired his No. 28, and he entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
