Brian Kelly Madden Career 1999-2009 - Peak 90 OVR

In 2002 Brian Kelly grabbed eight interceptions, tying the great Rod Woodson for the NFL lead, and cashed it in for a championship. That was the year Tampa Bay's defense throttled Oakland 48-21 in Super Bowl XXXVII, and Kelly was the boundary corner trusted to hold up while Ronde Barber and John Lynch roamed. A second-round pick out of USC in 1998, he spent a decade in Tampa before closing out with Detroit in 2008.

He finished with 22 career interceptions over 141 games, most of them in that Cover 2 scheme that asked corners to tackle, squeeze and read the quarterback's eyes rather than shadow a man. His son, Kyu Blu Kelly, later reached the league as a cornerback himself.

Madden rewarded the ball production. Kelly sat at 77 in the 2000 edition and dipped to 64 the next year, then his championship season pushed him to a career-best 90 in the 2003 game. He stayed in the high 80s for four more editions, an 89 in 2004 and again in 2006, before sliding to 82 in the 2008 version.
