Simeon Rice: 122 sacks, Super Bowl XXXVII, then filmmaking
Simeon Rice was born on February 24, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois, and played college football at Illinois. The Arizona Cardinals selected him third overall in the 1996 draft, and the Associated Press named him Defensive Rookie of the Year that season. Madden NFL 99 put him at a calculated 84 for the 1998 season, his third year in Arizona.
He made his first Pro Bowl in 1999, and Madden NFL 2001 rated him 89 for the 2000 season, his last with the Cardinals. Rice signed with Tampa Bay in 2001. He recorded 15.5 sacks in 2002, was named first-team All-Pro, and had two sacks of Rich Gannon in the Buccaneers' 48-21 win over Oakland in Super Bowl XXXVII. Madden NFL 04 rated him 97 for the 2003 season.
He was limited to eight games in 2006, and Tampa Bay released him before the 2007 season. He played six games for Denver and two for Indianapolis that year, and the Colts released him on November 27, 2007; Madden NFL 08 rated him 91 for that season. Rice finished with 122 sacks, 25 forced fumbles, five interceptions and three Pro Bowl selections. He graduated from the New York Film Academy in 2009 and directed the thriller Unsullied, which opened in theatres on August 28, 2015.
