Alshinard Harris was born on December 7, 1974, in Coconut Creek, Florida. He spent two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College and two at Texas A&M-Kingsville, and Tampa Bay drafted him in the sixth round, 169th overall, in 1997. Philadelphia claimed him on waivers on August 31, 1998.
Harris played five seasons for the Eagles, most of them as the nickel corner, and Madden NFL 2000 put him at a calculated 81 for 1999. Philadelphia traded him to Green Bay in February 2003. On January 4, 2004, in overtime of the wild-card game at Lambeau Field, he intercepted Matt Hasselbeck and returned it 52 yards for the touchdown that beat Seattle. Madden NFL 04 rated him 84 for that season.
He made the Pro Bowl after the 2007 and 2008 seasons and was a second-team All-Pro in 2007, a year for which Madden NFL 08 rated him 95. On November 22, 2009, he tore ligaments in his left knee against San Francisco in what became his last game for the Packers, and Madden NFL 10 rated him 90 for that season. He played three games for Miami in 2010 and nine for St. Louis in 2011. He entered the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 2021 and finished with 470 tackles and 21 interceptions.
