Stanford receiver with three Super Bowl rings and 565 catches

Ed McCaffrey was born on August 17, 1968 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, played at Stanford, and was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round, 83rd overall, in 1991. He caught 92 passes in three seasons in New York, then played 1994 in San Francisco, where he caught 11 passes in 16 games and won Super Bowl XXIX. Madden NFL 95 put him at a calculated 95 for that season.

He joined Denver in 1995 and became a full-time starter in 1996. He won Super Bowls XXXII and XXXIII with the Broncos, and in 1998 he caught 64 passes for 1,053 yards and 10 touchdowns, made the Pro Bowl and was named second-team All-Pro. Madden NFL 99 listed him at a calculated 86 for that year.

In 2000 he caught 101 passes for 1,317 yards and nine touchdowns, setting the Broncos single-season reception record, and Madden NFL 2001 put him at 91. He broke his leg in the 2001 opener and missed the rest of that season, came back for 69 catches in 2002, and caught 19 in 2003, a season Madden NFL 04 listed at 82. He retired after 2003 with 565 receptions for 7,422 yards and 55 touchdowns in 185 games.
