Jason Elam was born on March 8, 1970 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, kicked at Hawaii, and was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round in 1993, 70th overall. He took the job as a rookie and held it in Denver for 15 seasons. Madden NFL 95 put him at a calculated 66 for the 1994 season, and Madden NFL 98 put him at a calculated 92 for 1997, the year Denver won Super Bowl XXXII.

On October 25, 1998, Elam kicked a 63-yard field goal against the Jacksonville Jaguars, tying Tom Dempsey's record for the longest in league history, and Denver won Super Bowl XXXIII that season. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1995, 1998 and 2001. Madden NFL 03 rated him 95 for the 2002 season, and Madden NFL 08 rated him 96 for 2007, his last year with the Broncos.

Elam signed with Atlanta in 2008 and kicked two seasons there, ending with 436 field goals in 540 attempts and 1,983 points. He set Denver franchise records of 395 field goals and 1,786 points. After football he flew missionary flights in Alaska and co-wrote four novels. The Broncos inducted him into their Ring of Fame in 2016.
