Jonathan Stewart: Panthers' all-time rusher, 7,318 yards

Jonathan Stewart was born on March 21, 1987, in Fort Lewis, Washington, and rushed for 7,755 yards at Timberline High School in Lacey, the most in Washington prep history. At Oregon he ran for 1,722 yards in 2007 and set a Sun Bowl record with 253 yards against South Florida. The Carolina Panthers took him in the first round of the 2008 NFL draft, 13th overall, and he set a franchise rookie record with 10 rushing touchdowns; Madden NFL 09 listed that season at 83 overall.

In 2009 he rushed for 1,133 yards, including 206 against the New York Giants in Week 16, and he and DeAngelo Williams became the first pair of teammates each to rush for 1,100 yards in a season. Madden NFL 11 rated his 2010 season 88. Ankle injuries limited him to nine games in 2012 and six in 2013.

Stewart ran for 989 yards in 2015 and was selected to the Pro Bowl, a season Madden NFL 16 listed at 84. He rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns in the divisional-round win over Seattle and scored Carolina's only touchdown in Super Bowl 50. Madden NFL 17 rated his 2016 season 87. He was released on February 28, 2018 as the franchise's all-time leading rusher with 7,318 yards, played three games for the Giants, and signed a one-day contract on April 23, 2019 to retire as a Panther.
