A physical corner who got paid to lock down

Nate Clements pressed receivers, took the ball away, and hit like a safety in run support. The Ohio State product, a first-round pick of Buffalo in 2001, was a complete cover man, so much so that San Francisco later gave him one of the biggest defensive-back contracts of its time.

Madden had him at 73 and a 95 by the 2005 edition, his Pro Bowl peak in Buffalo. Big, aggressive and well-rounded, he was a handful for any receiver.
