A converted receiver who talked big and played bigger

Richard Sherman was a Stanford receiver who switched to corner after a knee injury, a fifth-round steal who became the loud, brilliant leader of the Legion of Boom, a long, physical presser who backed up the talk.

Madden climbed him from a 52 to a 99 by the 2015 edition, around the years Seattle's secondary led the league in scoring defense four straight seasons. His tipped pass in the January 2014 NFC title game sealed a Super Bowl trip, followed by an unforgettable postgame declaration. A Super Bowl XLVIII title, three straight first-team All-Pros and 37 interceptions later, he was as thoughtful off the field as he was combative on it.
